Fortunati Leopoldina (Università di Udine)

Leopoldina Fortunati è Ordinaria di Sociologia della Comunicazione e della Cultura presso il Dipartimento di Scienze Matematiche, Informatiche e Fisiche dell’Università degli Studi di Udine, dove attualmente dirige il Laboratorio di ricerca sui nuovi media “NuMe”. Dal 2009 al 2016 ha diretto il dottorato in Comunicazione Multimediale ed è stata per tre anni presidente del corso di laurea in Scienze e Tecnologie Multimediali. Nel 2015 è stata visiting professor presso l’università di Jvaskvla (Finlandia). Nel 2016 è stata nominata membra dell’Academia Europaea – The Academy of Europe, per la sezione “Visual, cinema and media”. I suoi lavori sono stati pubblicati in 11 lingue.
Ha partecipato al progetto europeo di ricerca SIGIS, “Strategies of Inclusion: Gender and the Information Society” e ha promosso, diretto o partecipato a varie ricerche cross-culturali e nazionali, finanziate da Telecom Italia, France Telecom, NCR, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University e Peking University. Dal 2002 al 2014 è stata molto attiva a livello europeo nell’area COST sia a livello gestionale che di costruzione di reti di ricerca.
Dal 2009 è la first editor della collana peer-review “Participation in the Broadband Society” (Peter Lang) e nel 2013 ha co-fondato con Richard Ling e Gerard Goggin la collana “Studies in Mobile Communication” (Oxford University Press). E’ associate editor della rivista The Information Society ed è nell’Editorial Board delle riviste “Telematics & Informatics”; “Mobile media and communication”; “European Journal of Futures Research”; “Internet Histories: Digital Technology, Culture and Society”. E’ stata per 15 anni nell’Advisory Board della rivista New Media & Society.
E’ una dei fondatori e l’attuale co-presidente dell’Associazione Internazionale “The Society for the Social Study of Mobile Communication” (SSSMC).

Leopoldina Fortunati is Full Professor of Sociology of Communication and Culture at the Department of Mathematics, Informatics and Physics of the University of Udine, where she currently runs the research laboratory on new media “NuMe” (nume.uniud.it). From 2009 to 2016 she directed the doctoral programme in Multimedia Communication and was for three years president of the degree course in Multimedia Sciences and Technologies. In 2015 she was a visiting professor at the university of Jvaskvla (Finland). In 2016 she was nominated member of the Academy Europaea – The Academy of Europe, for the “Visual, cinema and media” section. Her works have been published in 11 languages.
She has participated in the European research project SIGIS, “Strategies of Inclusion: Gender and the Information Society” and has promoted, directed or participated in various cross-cultural and national research funded by Telecom Italia, France Telecom, NCR, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Peking University. From 2002 to 2014 she has been very active at European level in the COST area both at the management level and at the construction of research networks.
