Giordan Giuseppe (Università di Padova)

Giuseppe Giordan (PhD) è professore ordinario di sociologia all’Università di Padova dove insegna Sociologia della religione e Religions and Human Rights. E’ Coordinatore del Dottorato internazionale a titolo congiunto Human Rights, Society and Multi-level Governance e Co-editor della Annual Review of the Sociology of Religion (Brill).

E’ membro del consiglio della International Society for the Sociology of Religion (ISSR/SISR), associazione della quale è stato Segretario Generale dal 2009 al 2013. E’ stato membro eletto del Consiglio della Association for the Sociology of Religion (ASR) e della Society for the Scientific Study of Religion (SSSR).

E’ stato Visiting Professor alla Renmin University (Beijing), all’Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (Paris) e all’Università di Bucarest.

I suoi interessi di ricerca sono il rapporto tra religione e spiritualità, il pluralismo religioso e culturale, la relazione tra religioni e diritti umani.

Giuseppe Giordan, PhD, is Full Professor of Sociology at the University of Padova where he
teaches Sociology of Religion and Religions and Human Rights. He is Coordinator of the
International Joint PhD programme on Human Rights, Society and Multi-level Governance and Co- editor of the Annual Review of the Sociology of Religion (Brill).
He is member of the Council of the International Society for the Sociology of Religion (ISSR/SISR)
in which he served as General Secretary from 2009 to 2013. He served as elected Council member of the Association for the Sociology of Religion (ASR) and the Society for the Scientific Study of Religion (SSSR).
He was Visiting Professor at the Renmin University (Beijing), the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en
Sciences Sociales (Paris), and the University of Bucharest.
His sociological research focuses on the interaction between religion and spirituality, religious and cultural pluralism, religions and human rights.
